Mila Kunis – The Gorgeous Star’s Diet and Fitness Secrets

She’s one of the most popular actresses in the world right now, with looks that garner the affections of men across the globe, and a charming and almost annoyingly lovable personality that endears her to girls and women alike, so it’s no wonder Mila Kunis would be someone whose diet and fitness regime would attract a certain amount of curiosity.

When she catapulted to super stardom a few years back with her role in the oscar-nominated Black Swan, she had wittled her already petite frame down to a mere 98lbs. She lost 20lbs in a matter of five months with a rigorous exercise routine consisting of 5 hours a day, 7 days a week, and a calorie intake of no more than 1200 calories. An extreme feat for any body,  Mila who is a self proclaimed food junkie, (normally eating anything from chinese to cheesburgers) was more than happy to be done with the taxing role and put on a healthy 25lbs in the months following the movies wrap.

I’m a huge foodie, I love food. But when people say, “I can’t lose weight”, no no no, you can. Your body can do everything and anything, you just have to want to do it.”

So apart from the extremity of her regime for her role in that particular movie, Mila normally works out about 3 times a week with a personal trainer. She ups that to 5 days a week when preparing for a role, like that of her one in “Friends with Benefits” where she and Justin Timberlake shared a lot of steamy skin baring scenes. She enlisted the help of celebrity trainer Brian Abercrombie, the man who whipped Gerard Butler into shape for his Adonis like role in the kick ass action movie 300. Apparently Abercrombie works his clients out with a system called P.A.S.E (Power, agility, strength, Endurance) focusing on the body as a whole, rather then on individual parts. The workout consists of six movements, done in circuits for 40 minutes with no rest.

Apart from the time she spends in the gym Miss Kunis likes to be active outdoors, jet skiing in the summer and snow boarding in the winter.  Although it would sound to most of us that she follows a fairly regimented fitness routine, Kunis claims to have quite a relaxed, non obsessive approach to her diet and figure compared to most other celebs.

Sticking to a diet of mainly low glycemic carbs (oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potatoes), protein (chicken breast, fish) and essential fats (omega 3’s like flax oil, fish oil) keeps Mila in great shape all year and she takes pride in her abilities to make healthy meals in the kitchen claiming she “can make anything out of leftovers.” An because she takes such a healthful approach to her diet and workout the majority of the time, she isn’t afraid to splurge on foods she likes on occasion, claiming that dark chocolate and wine are one of her regular indulgences.

My glass of wine and I are besties.”

Overall it seems Mila is pretty balanced with her diet and workouts, knowing when she needs to be a little more disciplined and knowing when she can allow herself her to take a break. Balancing gym workouts with fun outdoor activities helps keep exercise interesting and energizing and Mila seems to be doing that successfully as she never fails to look beautiful when she steps on the red carpet.

So to sum up if you want to emulate Miss Mila you should be;

Working out 3 – 5 days a week doing circuit and strength training and then mixing it up with outdoor activities like running, hiking, and other sports.

Maintaining a clean diet made up of mainly low GI carbs, (quinoa, brown rice) lean proteins (beans, lentils, chicken) and healthy fats (avocado, coconut butter and Olive oil).

Allowing yourself a little of your favorite things in your diet, be it a glass of wine, or a piece of chocolate helps keep you on track and wont leave you feeling deprived, plus they are the things in life we love most, so allowing yourself your favorite things now and then help keep a healthy balance.

Hi Sally ! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!
An example of Mila’s daily diet according to what she has mentioned above would look something like this…
      Breakfast

Glass of hot water and lemon
      Porridge oats with berries
      Or/ a large veggie omelette

      Lunch

Large Mixed Salad with your choice of protein eg. Goats cheese / chicken / Beans
      or
Quinoa salad with roasted almonds and mixed peppers

      Snack
      Apple and almond butter
      or
      carrot sticks and hummus

      Dinner
Baked Sweet potato with lean chicken or fish and green veggies eg. broccoli or asparagus
      or
Brown rice, chicken pattie or lentil pattie and green veg.

This is a very basic idea of what she would eat. Its straight up clean eating, and rememerb if youre working out during the day you may need more calories!

let me know if i can help with anything else!! 🙂
